Elton Solee-Teah Legacy Scholarships

The Elton Solee-Teah Legacy Scholarships honor the memory of Ms. Wonsehlea’s late father, Elton Solee, who dedicated his life to serving underprivileged rural populations in Liberia. The scholarship is specifically designed to assist struggling rural Liberian youth pursuing a degree in the healthcare field. This initiative aims to continue Mr. Solee’s legacy by empowering future healthcare professionals who are committed to improving healthcare access and quality in rural Liberia, as well as around the world.

Scholarship Details:

1st Place Award: $1000
2nd Place Award: $700
3rd Place Award: $300

Essay Question:

In an essay of 500-700 words, discuss the current healthcare system in Liberia and propose tangible ways in which it can be transformed to better serve the needs of rural populations. Consider challenges such as access to healthcare facilities, availability of healthcare professionals, quality of care, and any systemic issues hindering effective healthcare delivery in rural areas. Additionally, outline specific strategies or initiatives that can be implemented to address these challenges and create lasting improvements in Liberia’s rural healthcare system, with potential applicability around the world.

Application Requirements:

1. Applicant must be a Liberian youth from a rural area.
2. Applicant must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a healthcare-related degree program.
3. Submission of a completed essay addressing the provided question.
4. Proof of enrollment or acceptance into a recognized educational institution.

Selection Criteria:

● Clarity and depth of analysis in addressing the essay question.
● Originality and feasibility of proposed solutions.
● Demonstrated commitment to serving rural communities in Liberia and potential global impact.
● Academic achievements and potential for future leadership in the healthcare field.

Deadline and Submission:

All applications must be submitted electronically by Dec 24, 2024 by 11.59 pm to info@actionoriented.org. Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.
