Origins and Vision: Action Oriented Youth of Liberia, Inc. (AOYL) was founded in response to the critical need for youth empowerment and skill development in Liberia. Following the country’s prolonged civil conflict and economic instability, Liberia’s youth faced significant challenges, including high unemployment rates, limited access to quality education, and a lack of opportunities for personal and professional growth. Recognizing these pressing issues, Wonsehlea Teah, our founder and Executive Director, envisioned an organization dedicated to providing young Liberians with the tools and resources necessary to overcome these obstacles and build brighter futures.

Early Efforts: In its early years, AOYL focused on grassroots initiatives aimed at improving the lives of young people in Liberia. These efforts included health awareness campaigns, educational support services, and vocational training programs designed to equip youth with the skills and resources needed to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities. Drawing inspiration from her faith and guided by the principles of compassion and service, Ms. Teah embarked on a mission to provide hope, opportunities, and practical assistance to Liberia’s youth.

Expansion and Partnerships: As AOYL gained momentum, it expanded its reach and impact across Liberia. The organization formed partnerships with local churches, community organizations, and government agencies to maximize its outreach efforts. Through strategic collaborations and the dedication of its team members and volunteers, AOYL was able to reach thousands of young people, providing them with essential resources, mentorship, and opportunities for personal and professional development.

Current Focus: Today, AOYL continues to uphold its mission of empowering, inspiring, and challenging Liberian youth through a wide range of programs and services. Guided by its faith and fueled by a passion for social justice and equity, AOYL remains steadfast in its commitment to creating a future where every young person in Liberia has the opportunity to thrive and fulfill their potential.
